LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Often, your passwords are the only things standing between you and a cybercriminal. Fortunately, Experian says you can keep bad actors out with five simple strategies.

First, create long passwords with a variety of numbers and special characters. They’re the hardest for hackers to figure out.

Use different passwords for each of your accounts. That way, if one is exposed in a data breach, the others are protected.

Next, make each password unique by switching up the numbers and characters.

Another option is to use a password manager to create, store, and enter passwords for you. That way, you only have to remember one.

Or, you can go old school and write down your passwords. Experts say a notebook is actually much safer than storing it on your device.
