LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Hip-hop artist and Las Vegas local Flavor Flav has invited the U.S. Women’s National Hockey Team to Las Vegas for a ‘real celebration’ of their gold medal win.
In a post on X, Flavor Flav wrote: “If the USA Women’s Hockey team wants a real celebration and invite… I’ll host them in Las Vegas.”
He continued that they could “do some nice dinners and shows and good times” and called for a “hotel and airline to help me out here and celebrate these women for real for real.” He also extended invites to the bobsled and skeleton teams.
The post came after the team declined an invite from the White House to the State of the Union address, citing “previously scheduled academic and professional commitments.”
Additional backlash came after a video emerged of the Men’s National Hockey Team on a phone call with President Donald Trump, who invited the men to the State of the Union address.
During the phone call, he added that he “probably would be impeached” if he did not invite the women’s team.
The women’s team declined the invitation a day after the call.
Flavor Flav also shared the email invitation sent to the team in a post on X, which read: “First, massive congratulations on the gold!! We saw the story about the men’s invite to the White House, and the not quite invite for the women’s team.
Flav recently posted on social media an idea and invite for the women’s hockey team to Las Vegas for a real celebration. He always stands behind everything he says and does. If there is an interest for the team to come to Las Vegas and celebrate with Flav – we will figure it out on our end and make it a lovely experience.”
As of Tuesday morning, multiple brands — including the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority — have reached out to Flavor Flav to help sponsor the celebration, but the team has yet to respond.
