LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Source Academy & Early Learning Center says it’s providing free breakfast, lunch and dinner to those in need across the Las Vegas Valley.

Officials with the center said it’s a response to the ongoing suspension and delays of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

“As a community-based program, we see the direct impact that policy changes and funding delays have on families,” said Jerek Hough, Chief Executive Officer of Source Academy & Early Learning Center. “When benefits are on hold, families are left to make impossible choices. We believe no child or parent should ever go hungry, and we’re proud to stand in the gap.”

According to a media release, the meals will be freshly prepared daily by Source Academy’s in-house kitchen staff and will be distributed at all Source Academy Campuses. Officials say families do not need to be currently enrolled in the program to receive the meals, but should call so staff can prepare a plate.

The initiative is said to run until SNAP benefits are fully restored.

“Source Academy was built on the idea of community care,” said Hough. “When systems fail, people step up. That’s what we’re doing — taking care of one another until the support systems families depend on are back in place.”
