Six months of negotiations

The local SEIU 1107 union, which represents more than 5,000 members, said it has been in contract negotiations with HCA Healthcare for six months. Workers are calling on the company to invest more in frontline caregivers, including higher wages and safer staffing levels.

Hospital responds

Sunrise Hospital issued a statement on the contract negotiations, saying in part: “While we support peaceful demonstrations, we maintain that the best path for reaching fair and equitable agreements is at the bargaining table. Since negotiations began, we have bargained in good faith, and we will continue to do so.”

The next bargaining meeting is scheduled for Thursday and Friday. HCA Healthcare had not responded to a request for comment as of Tuesday night.
