LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) -The Henderson Police Department is calling four of its officers heroes after saying they rescued an 8-year-old from a fire.

“Officers responded to a structure fire with flames emitting from the residence, exploding glass and heavy black smoke also coming from the second-floor residence. Officers made emergency entry into the burning residence multiple times, which led to officers rescuing a juvenile and two kenneled dogs who were trapped inside,” read a police department Facebook post.

FOX5 is told the fire happened at the Marlow apartments off Whitney Ranch Drive on Sunday.

Police say assisting officers also quickly evacuated nearby residents and the Henderson Fire Department kept the flames from spreading.

“We thank all our heroes for their bravery, courageous actions, and dedication to our community,” read the Facebook post.

Henderson police identified the hero officers as, Officer W. Hallett. Officer A. Gomez. Officer B. Delobel. Officer A. Church.

The department didn’t immediately provide details whether the child or dogs were injured.
