LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – 387 people lost their lives on Nevada roads in 2023, Nevada State Police say. Police now remembering those lives during a candlelight vigil Friday evening.
“This number not only represents a tragedy in terms of the loss of life, but also in terms of the lasting effects that a traffic crash can have on those who are left to grieve,” police said.
Nevada Highway Patrol says they are honoring the victims and extending support for families, friends, personnel and community members through a vigil ceremony.
“The ceremony is an opportunity to pay tribute and recognize the 90 lives that were lost to traffic crashes in Nevada Highway Patrol’s jurisdiction on Southern Nevada’s highways in 2023,” a media release said.
The ceremony is expected to start around 6 p.m. at 6514 W. Sunset Road.
