LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Nightmare Cafe, a popular horror-themed restaurant in the Arts District, is going dark after this weekend, closing its doors after less than a year and a half in business.

“Sad, devastated. This was like a second home to me,” said loyal Nightmare Cafe customer Gaby Sanchez.
“Unfortunately, we had some setbacks, not just financially, but mentally and physically,” said Nightmare Cafe co-owner Estrella Martin.
Martin said her husband, who also a co-owner of the restaurant, as well as their business partner – the owner of Nightmare Toys – both suffered heart complications recently. She believes it was due to the stress of running the business.
“Running a restaurant really is so much work, and there’s a lot that goes into it,” said Martin. “And we actually do own other businesses and stuff, so we were stretched a little thin.”
Despite its short stint in the Arts District, Nightmare Cafe made a lasting impact on its loyal customers. Many showed up to show support during the final weekend for a place as unique as its community.
“It’s a horror vibe, and I’m also into horror, so when I found out this place was going to open and do trivia and bingo, it was like finally I can go somewhere where I belong,” said Sanchez. “I felt like there’s not a lot of places that have this, so when you go here, you’re like, ‘I’m home.’”
“It’s going to be sad to not get to be a part of this community anymore. I mean everybody showed up and showed out for sure for our last hoorah,” said Martin.
