LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A key House committee has approved the Digital Asset Tax Certainty Act, which includes a provision pushed by Southern Nevada Rep. Dina Titus.

The provision would keep the federal tax deduction for gambling losses at 100 percent, blocking a scheduled change that would cut it to 90 percent starting Jan. 1, 2027.

Titus first introduced the bipartisan FAIR BET Act in 2025, saying the reduction would unfairly hit both professional bettors and everyday casino visitors.

Under the planned cut, even gamblers who break even over a year could still owe income taxes on their winnings without being able to fully write off matching losses.

Titus is now urging House leadership to bring the bill to the floor for a full vote as soon as possible.
