LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department posted a video on social media showcasing the “grappler.”
The incident occurred on Aug. 18 on U.S. 95 near Kyle Canyon Road and showed a pursuit between LVMPD vehicles and a vehicle ending with the use of the “grappler.”
“As you’ll see in the video, the tool allowed our officers to bring this dangerous situation to a successful and peaceful resolution,” the post said.
The video shows a vehicle closely following the suspect vehicle before a plume of dust rises and a tether appears to attach the suspect vehicle to the police cruiser.
The vehicle then pulls to the right shoulder of the road. Another police vehicle comes up behind the suspect car as it grinds to a halt.
“He’s not going anywhere,” an unidentified voice says in the video. “Just put pressure on it.”
LVMPD officers were able to take Vincent Farmer into custody after police said he pushed his ex-girlfriend from the vehicle and carjacked her. Farmer has an active warrant for attempted murder out of Nye County, police said.
