LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Nevada Secretary of State Francisco Aguilar is urging eligible residents across the state to register to vote and asking active voters to confirm their registration details in observance of National Voter Registration Day on Tuesday.
The statewide push comes as election officials prepare for the upcoming Nov. 3 general election.
“The right to vote is fundamental to our democracy, and every eligible Nevadan must have the opportunity to make their voice heard,” Aguilar said in a statement. “Registering to vote is the first step in shaping the future of your community and our state. Take that step today—and if you are already registered, make sure your information is current.”
Eligible voters can handle registrations, address changes, party affiliation updates, contact information, and mail-ballot preferences online through the state’s portal to register to vote in the state of Nevada. Residents who are 17 years old can also preregister; their registration automatically activates on their 18th birthday.
Mail Ballot Distribution Schedule
County election departments will begin sending mail-in ballots later this week:
- Military and Overseas Voters: Ballots will be mailed by Sept. 17–18.
- Out-of-State Registered Voters: Ballots will be sent Sept. 18–24.
- In-State Nevada Voters: Mail ballots will be dispatched the week of Oct. 5.
Nevada voters can track the status of their mail ballots by signing up online. Accessible voting options are also open through Nevada’s Effective Absentee System for Elections (NVEASE) for military and overseas voters, voters with disabilities, and tribal members residing on reservations or colonies.
Key 2026 Nevada Election Dates
- Early Voting: Runs Saturday, Oct. 17, through Friday, Oct. 30, at designated polling places statewide.
- Mail Ballot Registration Deadline: Oct. 20 is the final day to register or update details to receive a ballot by mail.
- Election Day: Tuesday, Nov. 3. Polling places will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Ballot Return Deadlines: Mail ballots must be postmarked on or before Election Day, Nov. 3, and received by county election departments no later than Nov. 7. Ballots may also be placed in official county drop boxes. State officials recommend mailing ballots at least one full week prior to Election Day.
- Same-Day Registration: Eligible citizens can register or update information online or in person during early voting and on Election Day at any county polling center.
