LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A severely injured climber was rescued after getting lost in the Red Rock Loop on Friday afternoon, according to Las Vegas Fire & Rescue.

Fire authorities said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, that the department’s Technical Rescue Team was dispatched to the White Rock Trail in the Red Rock Loop, approximately 200 feet up a vertical rock wall.

The search for the climber reportedly took six hours.

Once the climber was located, it was determined that he had critical injuries and the team transitioned to man to the care of LVMPD Search and Rescue. From there, the man was transferred by helicopter to a nearby hospital.

“Rescues such as these are labor-intensive. Members must hike to locate the individual, stabilize them, and transport them to safety for medical care,” fire officials noted in the post.
