LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Las Vegas Metropolitan Police on Thursday released the names of two officers involved in a deadly shooting earlier in the week.
It happened around two Tuesday morning just off Las Vegas Boulevard near Sahara Avenue and 6th Street. Patrol officers saw a car crashed into another vehicle. They say, when they moved in to investigate, the driver got out and took off on foot. Officers gave chase. They say when he pulled out a gun and pointed it at them, they opened fire. The suspect did not survive.
LVMPD has now named the two officers involved in that shooting; Officers Jae Maston and Wesley Merren. Both are assigned to the Tourist Safety Division at the Convention Center Area Command. Both have been with the department since 2021. Both have also been placed on routine paid administrative leave pending the outcome of a review.
The Clark County Coroners Office has not yet released the identity of the suspected killed.
