SAN DIEGO (FOX5) — A Las Vegas native played a role in the recovery of the Artemis II crew after their splashdown off the San Diego coast last month.
Petty Officer Second Class Michael Trescott serves aboard the USS John P. Murtha, the Navy ship tasked with retrieving the Orion capsule and crew from the Pacific.

Trescott, a graduate of CSN High School, is an electronics technician and work center supervisor for navigation and radar. He said his team made sure critical equipment was ready so the four astronauts could be recovered smoothly and safely.
He credited lessons in integrity, compassion and honesty learned growing up in Las Vegas for guiding his Navy service.
