LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Las Vegas police announced that a suspect was taken into custody in connection to a deadly shooting on the Las Vegas Strip last week.

According to a police report, LVMPD officers responded to a hotel on the 3700 block of South Las Vegas Boulevard regarding a welfare check at approximately 1:56 a.m. on January 29. Officers found a woman suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Medical personnel responded and pronounced her dead at the scene. Through the course of the investigation, detectives identified Dandre Owens, 29, as the suspect in this case.

On Feb. 4, Owens was taken into custody and booked into the Clark County Detention Center for multiple felony charges, including open murder with a deadly weapon, carrying a concealed weapon without a permit and possession of a gun by a prohibited person.

He has an appearance in Clark County Justice Court scheduled for Feb. 7.
