LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A Las Vegas police K9 passed away earlier this week after suffering a medical episode.

According to a post on Facebook, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department revealed that the K9 died after suffering a medical episode on Tuesday, June 4. The veterinarian is currently working to determine the cause of his death.

Police said that Ash was rushed to the hospital following the episode, and was stabilized at a critical care veterinary hospital. However, his condition soon deteriorated and he passed away.

“Ash will be missed by everyone who worked with him, and especially by his partner and handler,” LVMPD stated in the post.

Ash was a narcotics detection dog with LVMPD for nearly 10 years. He also competed in the 2019 K9 Trials, where he finished second in vehicle searches.
