LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Las Vegas police are responding to an active barricade involving an armed man near a northwest valley school Friday morning.

According to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded to calls about a domestic disturbance in the 7100 block of Eyebright Street, near Elkhorn Way, around 11:19 p.m. Thursday night. The scene has remained active overnight and into Friday morning.

Police say the armed man refuses to comply with officers’ commands to peacefully exit the house, and the incident has been deemed a barricade.

SWAT and crisis negotiators are on scene, and a large police presence remains in the area.

All lanes on Elkhorn between I-11 and Cimarron, as well as Sky Pointe, south of Elkhorn, are closed. Additionally, there is no access to enter the Somerset Academy Sky Pointe Campus.

The public is advised to avoid the area while an investigation is ongoing.
