LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A Las Vegas wheelchair football team is traveling to two national tournaments this season.
The city’s adaptive wheelchair football program is now in its fourth season. Fourteen players are heading to Phoenix September 11-13, then to Dallas November 1-2.
The team competes in the USA Wheelchair Football League under the name “Las Vegas Raiders.”

Five of the players are military veterans. City officials say as many as 25 veterans take part in the wheelchair football and basketball programs through tryouts, practices, camps and clinics.
The city promotes the adaptive recreation programs through the VA, specialty gyms, prosthetic companies and therapists. The city provides sports wheelchairs for people to use.
Wheelchair football practices are held Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Dula Community Center on East Bonanza Road.
The center is fully accessible and offers a range of programs for people with disabilities, including wheelchair football, adaptive cycling, inclusive pickleball, outdoor adventures, esports, arts and crafts, fitness, and special bowling and billiards for disabled veterans.
