LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A man is critically injured after he was struck by a car while crossing the street in a wheelchair on Thursday night.

The 52-year-old man was crossing East Sahara Avenue at South Las Vegas Boulevard inside a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado around 9:41 p.m.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the Chevrolet was traveling eastbound on Sahara Avenue and entered the intersection on a solid green traffic signal. The pedestrian entered the roadway against the pedestrian signal and was struck by the front of the Chevrolet.

The pedestrian was projected forward onto the roadway, and arriving medical personnel transported him to UMC Trauma by ambulance.

The driver of the Chevrolet remained at the scene and did not show any signs of impairment, according to police.
