LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The man accused of being involved in a fight outside a Walmart that led to a deadly police shooting made his first appearance in court Monday.
According to court records, Kwame Swain is facing three misdemeanor counts of domestic battery and one felony charge of attempted coercion related to a domestic violence incident involving his girlfriend from the day before the incident.

Police say Swain was involved in a fight outside the store with two other women identified as Raqiya Smith and Amena Blue, who were later taken into custody, before being followed into the store by Travis Ward, who was later shot and killed by police.
Swain was taken to a nearby hospital with critical injuries, where he remains in treatment. While at the hospital, according to the arrest report, police confirmed his involvement in the domestic disturbance and booked him in absentia.
Swain was previously due in court last Monday, July 27, but missed the hearing due to his ongoing hospitalization. According to court records, he has also paid bond for his $3,000 bail and is currently out of custody.
