LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A man was shot and killed inside a southwest valley home early Saturday morning after police say he was beating his girlfriend.

Metro police dispatchers received a call around 5 a.m. from a woman saying her brother had shot her boyfriend. Officers responded to a home near Torrey Pines and Windmill Lane.

The brother identified himself as the shooter when officers arrived. Police took him into custody without incident.

Officers found the boyfriend inside the home with a gunshot wound. Medical crews tried to help, but he died at the scene.

Metro police said the woman and her boyfriend were in an argument and the boyfriend was hitting her. The brother heard the fight, went upstairs and saw the boyfriend beating his sister, police said.

After several attempts to get him to stop, the brother pulled out a gun and shot him, according to police.

Investigators said everyone in the home cooperated with police and called this an isolated incident with no threat to the public.
