LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department announced that it has arrested a suspect in connection with a murder from earlier this month.
On March 12 at approximately 10:45 a.m., LVMPD dispatch received several reports of gunfire on the 5700 block of Ritter Lane. Officers found a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Medical personnel responded and transported the victim to UMC where he was later pronounced dead.
The LVMPD Homicide Section responded to the scene and began an investigation. Detectives learned that the victim was standing in front of a residence when an adult Black male wearing dark clothing was seen riding his bicycle toward the victim. After shots were fired, the same adult was seen running towards his bicycle and riding away north on Steinbrenner Lane.
Detectives identified 47-year-old Donald Holmes as a suspect in this case. Holmes was already in custody for unrelated charges. On March 20, Holmes was rebooked into the Clark County Detention Center for open murder.
He has an appearance in Clark County Justice Court scheduled for March 26.
