LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) -The weather in the mornings over the weekend was a little chilly but that didn’t stop some young, red-hot golfers from playing.

Several of them shot rounds under par. Many longtime golfers find it difficult to shoot par, but these golfers are just 9-to-14-years-old.

It was a successful 2024 Southwestern Cup Team Championships at Angel Park Golf Club in Las Vegas. U.S. Kids Golf local tour champions and runner-ups from surrounding states competed in teams of two for a team championship title. The kids played in a two-day tournament.

Out-of-state families tell FOX5 they enjoy coming to Vegas each year to play in the tournament, which brings out some of the best players from Nevada, Utah, Arizona and Southern California.

The overall team champion this year was Phoenix, Arizona. Nevada placed 5th out of seven teams, according to the U.S. Kids Golf website.
