LAS VEGAS, Nev. (KOLO) – The Nevada National Guard says it will be deploying for the Las Vegas Grand Prix to support first responders.
Around 80 National Guard soldiers and airmen will be activated on state orders in Clark County from Nov. 20 through Nov 24 to bolster security and emergency response capabilities during the race.
This will be the second year the Guard will deploy for the race, which is expected to bring around 300,000 people to the Las Vegas Valley.
The Guard says they will be deploying to strategic locations, including the Strip and two hospitals within the metropolitan area.
“The activation underlines our ongoing partnership between the Nevada National Guard and local emergency response agencies, showcasing their commitment to public safety and effective collaboration to ensure a safe, largescale sporting event such as the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix,” said Col. Kyle Cerfoglio, Nevada National Guard Joint Staff Director.
