LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Nevada’s unemployment rate dipped slightly in June, while the state added jobs over the past year, according to the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation’s (DETR) June 2026 economic report.

DETR officials say Nevada’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell 0.1 percentage points from May to 5.1%. The state’s labor force also shrank by 6,845 people.

Seasonally adjusted nonfarm employment totaled 1,614,100 jobs—up 2.3% from a year ago and up 3,800 jobs since May. In the Las Vegas metro area, employment rose by 3,000 jobs over the month and was up 25,600 jobs compared to June of last year.

Up in Northern Nevada, Reno’s employment fell by 600 jobs from May but increased by 4,200 jobs over the year. Carson City also posted a monthly decline of 100 jobs and was down 200 jobs from June 2025.
