LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A new generation flocks to embrace their ‘Vegas Showgirl’ era with Taylor Swift’s new album “Life of a Showgirl” and her feature film.

The artwork from Swift’s album features costumes from an iconic Las Vegas show: Jubilee, which graced the stages of the Strip for 35 years before it took its final bow in 2016.

“Taylor Swift is an amazing storyteller with her music. I just love how she’s bringing the ‘showgirl’ back,” said Lou Anne Chessik, the founder and president of the Showgirl Legacy Foundation.

Media outlets from across the globe have inquired about the history of showgirls in the last few weeks, all leading up to the album drop. FOX5 toured the Las Vegas Showgirl Museum, which features thousands of pieces from decades of shows on the Las Vegas Strip.

“We’re the only showgirl museum in the world, and it’s unbelievable how the word has gotten around,” said Grant Filipo. creator of the Las Vegas Showgirl Museum. He carefully preserves the vintage designs and restores damage.

Chessik is glad that a new generation is discovering what it takes to be a showgirl, from the costumes to dance and theater training.

“The dedication and commitment it took for us to be the best of the best. Just like I love that Taylor Swift is interested in our costumes now because she’s the best of the best,” Chessik said.
