LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The National Transportation Safety Board has released photos of the helicopter crash that killed six near the state line last weekend.
The helicopter departed Palm Springs, Cali. toward Boulder City, Nev. around 8:45 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10. According to NTSB, the crash was reported around 10:08 p.m. south of the I-15 near Halloran Springs, around 30 miles southwest of Primm.
Those on board included two crew members and four passengers, all of whom were reported deceased.
Witnesses described the weather conditions during the crash as “rain with a wintery mix” to investigators, which was later supported by NTSB meteorologists. Additionally, reports of downed power lines in the crash area are being investigated.
Witnesses also reported seeing fire when the aircraft made contact with the ground.
Flight tracking data obtained by investigators ended a quarter mile away from the wreckage location, but showed a slight right turn and gradual descent before the crash.
The wreckage indicated that the helicopter impacted the ground at a “nose-low and right-bank angle.”
The NTSB will release a preliminary report in the next 30 days, and a full report on the crash following a 12-24 month-long investigation.
