SPRING VALLEY (FOX5) — Relief is on the way for local pets and pet owners after the Board of County Commissioners granted zoning and entitlement approvals for a new Animal Resource Center in Spring Valley on Wednesday.
“The approval of the new Animal Resource Center represents a proactive approach to animal welfare in Clark County,” said Clark County Commissioner Michael Naft.
“This will help us meet the needs of our growing population and strengthen our Animal Control Officers’ ability to respond to calls for service, support residents, and keep animals close to home.”

The planned 37,000-square-foot facility will be constructed on approximately nine acres near Post Road and Jones Boulevard. Designed as a regional supplemental shelter, the center will house an estimated 172 to 192 animals to address surging community animal welfare needs.
Officials says that while preliminary renderings have been released, they noted that the project remains in the design phase and plans may change.
Construction is targeted for completion in winter 2028.
