LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – After a beloved pastor was gunned down in a North Las Vegas neighborhood, 36-year-old Joe Junio was taken into custody.

The deadly shooting happened Friday afternoon. She faces charges of open murder, attempted murder, and two counts of child abuse and/or neglect involving a deadly weapon.

The community and Grace Point Church, where the victim was a pastor, are stunned by the violence that took his life. The church shared this on social media:

“It is with great sorrow that we share the tragic loss of pastor Nick Davi. Nick was a husband, father, son, brother, pastor, friend and most importantly a brother in Christ.”

North Las Vegas police say they responded to a homicide on Lookout Lodge Lane around 4:30 p.m. Friday, inside the gated Courts of Aliante community. Police found that a man and a woman were shot. Both were taken to UMC where the woman survived and the man, identified as the pastor, died from his injuries.

Police arrested Junio at the scene. According to public records, the suspect is currently licensed with the Nevada Real Estate Division. Police did not reveal her connection, if any, to the pastor.

“I have a son that recently moved here, and we stated that the first of the year we are going to attend this church,” shared Rosalie Summerville, who lives near the church. Summerville plans on keeping that promise and regrets she never got a chance to meet the pastor.

“It just breaks my heart to hear that. No one has a right to take anyone’s life under any circumstances,” Summerville contended.

According to the coroner’s report FOX5 obtained Tuesday, the 46-year-old died as a result of a gunshot wound to his abdomen.

The church said information regarding funeral services and a GoFundMe for Davi’s family will be shared when available. Junio is due back in court on Monday.
