LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A man was arrested on Sunday morning after threatening a neighbor with a pickaxe and barricading himself inside a North Las Vegas residence.

North Las Vegas Police Department officers responded to reports of a physical altercation between neighbors on Saturday around 10 p.m. in the 1100 block of Stone River Drive. Police learned that during the incident, one of the neighbors – identified as 51-year-old Efrain Chavarin – armed themselves with a pickaxe.

When NLVPD arrived at the scene, Chavarin went back inside his residence and refused to come out and speak with officers. SWAT teams were requested in response to the barricade.

Around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, Chavarin came out of his residence and was taken into custody.

He was booked into the North Las Vegas Community Correctional Center on charges of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and obstructing an investigation.
