LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A pedestrian is dead after a deadly hit-and-run in the central Las Vegas valley on Saturday night.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the collision occurred on North Main Street, south of Foremaster Lane, around 8:09 p.m.

Through a preliminary investigation, police found that a pedestrian was crossing Main Street from east to west outside a marked crosswalk. At the same time, a possible late 1990s to early 2000s white Toyota Solara black-top convertible was traveling south on Main.

The crash occurred when the pedestrian entered the Toyota’s lane, and was struck by the front of the vehicle. He was declared dead at the scene by arriving medical personnel.

Police say the driver fled the area following the crash, and are currently seeking the suspect. The suspect vehicle will have damage to the front-right headlight, hood, and windshield. Additionally, the vehicle will have missing rims and hubcaps on the left side.

“The pedestrian’s death marks the 52nd traffic-related fatality in the LVMPD’s jurisdiction for the year 2024,” LVMPD noted in a release. “This collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD’s Collision Investigation Section.”
