LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Two Henderson schools are under lockdown on Tuesday morning while police investigate a vehicle involved in a carjacking that began in east Las Vegas.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, a robbery of a person occurred in the 4000 block of Baldwin Street near Nellis Boulevard and Flamingo Road. The person had their vehicle taken at gunpoint, police said.

Police later found the vehicle about 10 miles away in a Henderson community near Palo Verde Drive and Burkholder Boulevard.

Metro says one suspect has been located and is in custody. It is unclear at this time if multiple suspects were involved in the robbery. Police did say they are searching for outstanding suspects.

School administrators confirmed that both Basic Academy of International Studies and C.T. Sewell Elementary School were under lockdown, as of 11:00 a.m.

Henderson police are assisting Metro with the investigation.
