LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department are investigating a deadly stabbing in the east Las Vegas Valley.
Metro notified the media that a homicide occurred in the area of the 1000 block of Laurel Avenue. This is near the intersection of Charleston and Mojave.
In an 8 p.m. media briefing, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Jason Johansson explained that a Black male in his 50s was found with an apparent stab wound. He was taken to UMC for treatment but died at the hospital.
The lieutenant explained that prior to the stabbing, the man may have been committing sexual assault in a shed in a dirt lot near the scene. He added that a “group of citizens” ran to help when they heard a woman’s screams coming from the shed.
Johansson added that the citizens fled the scene and police currently do not know who they are. LVMPD is still investigating the scene and canvassing the area for surveillance video footage.
No suspects have been identified and no arrests have been made.
