LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The Las Vegas Raiders held a Raiders Day celebration Tuesday at DPAC Nevada, recognizing student achievement and promoting career awareness and wellness through football.
The event began with a pep rally that transitioned into a student recognition ceremony, where Raiders players honored students for academic accomplishments, including high ACT and assessment scores.

DPAC Nevada principal King Duncan said the event celebrated both the team’s season and the school’s students and teachers.
“We’re here to celebrate not just the Raiders are 3-0, about to be 4-0, but we’re going to celebrate our scholars, their academic achievements, and our teachers,” Duncan said.
Duncan said the school serves the historic Westside of Las Vegas.
“Serving the historic Westside, being a beacon of light in a community that needs light,” Duncan said. “And just so proud to do that. And our kids are that light.”
Sports business panel and training camp
Junior and senior high school students participated in a student-moderated Sports Business Panel featuring Raiders staff members. Duncan said the panel was meant to expose students to career paths within the sports industry.
“I love the players. But we got some future NFL team owners in this building today,” Duncan said. “And we got some great leaders who are going to be lawyers in the NFL. Even presidents, like the president of the Raiders.”
The day continued with a Raiders Junior Training Camp, where students learned football fundamentals and took part in health and wellness activities alongside Raiders players, Raider Rusher and the Raiderettes.
Remarks and attendance
The pep rally opened with remarks from DPAC Nevada Executive Director Dr. Lawrence Weekly and Raiders Team President Sandra Douglass Morgan, followed by a performance from the DPAC Nevada cheerleaders.
About 750 students attended the event alongside Raider Rusher, the Raiderettes and Raiders players Jeremy Chinn, Nakobe Dean, Connor Heyward and Jonah Laulu.
Public Education Foundation “Classroom in a Box” school supply kits and Raiders-branded literacy affirmation posters were distributed to support teachers and classrooms.
