LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officials announced Friday that retired K-9 officer Hunter has died. He was 14 years old.
Hunter was the lifelong partner of retired LVMPD Officer Jeff Corbett. Law enforcement officials said Hunter was responsible for locating and apprehending more than 200 suspects.
“Known as one of our top patrol dogs and a favorite among SWAT, Hunter’s courage and dedication never wavered,” the department said in a social media post.
In 2019, Hunter was stabbed during a SWAT operation. He returned to duty and served until the end of his 12-year career. Hunter enjoyed two and a half years of retirement.
“We are forever grateful for Hunter’s service, sacrifice and unwavering loyalty,” the post said.
