HENDERSON (FOX5) — The Henderson Silver Knights have re-signed defenseman Brandon Hickey to a one-year American Hockey League contract extension for the 2026-27 season, the team announced.

General Manager Tim Speltz said the deal brings Hickey back for his sixth season with the Silver Knights.

Hickey, 30, played 37 games for Henderson in 2025-26, recording one goal and six points with 17 penalty minutes. He also appeared in three playoff games.

A native of Leduc, Alberta, Hickey has been with the Silver Knights since the 2021-22 season. In 131 career games with Henderson, he has seven goals and 22 points, according to the team.

The Calgary Flames selected Hickey in the third round of the 2014 NHL draft, the organization reports.

His pro career includes 222 AHL games with Henderson, the Abbotsford Canucks, the Chicago Wolves, and the Rochester Americans, totaling 11 goals and 37 points. He also played for the ECHL’s Florida Everblades during the 2022-23 season and was part of a Kelly Cup championship team, said the Silver Knights.

Before turning pro, Hickey played four seasons at Boston University from 2014-18 and served as team captain as a senior, according to the team.

He helped the Terriers win Hockey East titles in 2015 and 2018 and earned honorable mention all-conference recognition in 2018. He represented Canada at the 2016 World Junior Championship and the 2017 Spengler Cup, winning gold at the latter, according to the team’s press release.
