LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A Henderson family says they are on edge following an ambush robbery reported along local trails, in which riders were targeted and robbed of their e-bikes.
Neighbors said they were ambushed on the Pittman Wash Trail near Arroyo Grande Park, thrown from their bikes and robbed of their belongings in seconds.
Mother describes attack on son
Resident Lovely Jack said her fear started Sunday night around 9 p.m., when her 15-year-old son was riding home from a friend’s house along the Pittman Wash Trail.
“To be honest, I don’t feel like I’m safe here. It’s like we have to look back just to make sure that no one is following us,” Jack said.
Jack said the trail was the same route her son shared with his father, who recently passed away. “He took this trail because he wanted to feel that one again,” she said.
Jack said an ambush interrupted her son’s ride home. “And then he asked my son, ‘Do you have a cell phone?” Jack said. “‘Do you have your wallet? Give it to me.’”
Jack said her son made a split-second choice while surrounded in the dark.
“My son was about to resist, but he said that he was trying to reach something in his hoodie,” Jack said. “So that’s why he just let it go.”

Neighbors say they’ve never seen crime like this
Jack said that in her decade living in the area, she has never witnessed crime like this on the trails. Other neighbors said they were also stunned.
“Not here. Everybody else has this great place, great area to be in for something like that to happen. So, it’s just kind of shocking,” one neighbor said.
Jack said the e-bike taken in the robbery cost $1,500 and was purchased last month.
“It’s actually my birthday gift and Christmas gift, an early Christmas gift for him. Because when his dad passed away three years ago, I’ve never seen my son’s eyes light up again since he had that e-bike. And, you know, I said, ‘Okay, let’s get it for your early birthday and Christmas.’ And that’s when he was excited again,” Jack said.
Mother searched for suspect after filing police report
After filing a police report, Jack said she drove around nearby intersections searching for the suspect and spotted him. “And we did actually see him. He was actually driving around my son’s bike, and he already had a scooter with him,” Jack said.
“He’s around by Warm Springs and North Arroyo, which is where the DQ is located,” Jack said.
Jack said she kept her distance and called police right away, but officers were unable to track down the suspect before he vanished that night.
Other victims come forward
Since posting about the ambush on social media, Jack said several other victims have reached out with similar stories.
FOX5 is in direct contact with another rider who says he was targeted in the same spot recently and is currently hospitalized awaiting surgery for a wrist broken during the attack.
FOX5 reached out to Henderson police for an update on the investigation and is awaiting a response.
