LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – After turning in his seventh double-digit scoring game, UNLV kicker Caden Chittenden has been named Mountain West Special Teams Player of the Week for the third time in his rookie season, the league announced Monday.
The Las Vegas native was perfect in his seven kick attempts for 11 total points to help the 23rd-ranked Rebels down San Diego State 41-20. He also kicked off eight times and forced six touchbacks by the Aztecs.
A graduate of Faith Lutheran High School, Chittenden nailed all five of his extra-point attempts and kicked a 46-yard field goal and a 21-yard field goal. The nation’s highest-scoring kicker with 109 points, he is tied for the most made field goals in college football with 22, which also ties the MW single-season record by a freshman.
Chittenden, a Midseason True Freshman All-American according to 247Sports, has also been named MW Freshman of the Week three times this fall.
UNLV closes out its regular-season road schedule on Friday with a trip to San Jose State, starting at 7 p.m. on FS1.
