LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A 20-year-old woman has died nearly a month after sustaining injuries in a crash in the eastern Las Vegas Valley.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, police and emergency services responded to a collision involving a pickup truck and a pedestrian around 11:51 a.m. on Jan. 5, 2024, on North Eastern Avenue at the intersection with Harris Avenue.
An initial investigation determined a woman was crossing South Eastern Avenue in a marked crosswalk while a 2021 GMC Sierra truck was traveling north on Eastern. Police say the truck struck the woman, projecting her north onto the roadway.
Arriving medical personnel transported the woman to University Medical Center’s Trauma for her injuries, which at the time were considered non-life-threatening.
On Thursday, LVMPD shared that the woman had succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased.
“Her death marks the 18th traffic-related fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s jurisdiction for the year 2024,” police noted in a release. “The collision remains under investigation.”
