LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A woman was found dead following a apartment fire near downtown Las Vegas on Sunday evening.
Around 6:36 p.m., Las Vegas Fire & Rescue received reports of smoke within Arthur McCants Manor on 800 N. Eastern Ave. The building was advised to begin an evacuation and residents who could not evacuate were advised to shelter in place.
The first LVFR unit arrived within three minutes, and crew members began locating the fire and assisting the residents in evacuating the complex.
Firefighters searched a second-floor apartment, where the fire originated, and extinguished a small fire in the bathroom.
The body of a 59-year-old woman was found in the apartment, according to firefighters.
Fire officials noted that the fire is currently under investigation, and the cause has not yet been determined.
