BOULDER CITY (FOX5) — Dozens of children jumped into the Boulder City Pool Thursday to take part in the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson, an international effort aimed at teaching water safety.

Since it started, the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson has helped more than 448,000 people in more than 56 countries. Boulder City leaders said education like this is essential for the community.

“Boulder City is home to hundreds of pools, spas, and other water hazards, and our community sits along Lake Mead. There are always risks in and around the water,” said Sierra Coppi, Boulder City aquatics coordinator. “Data shows that formal swimming lessons help save lives.”

Boulder City leaders said Thursday was the last chance to hold the event for a while. After the pool closes this fall, it will not reopen in the summer of 2027 as the city works to build a new aquatic facility.
