LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A 1-year-old girl died Sunday evening after being struck by a vehicle on Colleen Drive south of Churchill Street, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said.
The collision occurred at approximately 6:42 p.m. on Aug. 9, 2026. According to investigators, a 28-year-old man was moving a 2015 Toyota Sequoia slowly northbound on Colleen Drive when the girl, who is known to the driver, entered the path of the vehicle without the driver’s knowledge. The Sequoia struck the girl, knocking her to the ground.
Medical personnel transported the girl to UMC Trauma for treatment. Despite efforts by medical staff, she was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
The driver did not show signs of impairment and cooperated with investigators, according to LVMPD. Evidence at the scene and statements from both a witness and the driver were used in the investigation.
The crash is the 71st traffic-related fatality in LVMPD’s jurisdiction in 2026. The collision remains under investigation by LVMPD’s Collision Investigation Section.
