LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A 17-year-old girl was killed and a 19-year-old woman critically injured when a speeding vehicle struck them on a sidewalk Saturday afternoon.
Officers with the North Las Vegas Police Department responded to a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian crash north of the intersection of West Craig Road and Simmons Street at approximately 3:41 p.m. on May 2.
Arriving officers located a collision involving multiple vehicles and pedestrians.

Crash details
Preliminary findings indicate a 2020 BMW X3 was traveling northbound on Simmons Street at a high rate of speed, passing vehicles and weaving through traffic as it approached Craig Road.
At the intersection, the BMW collided with a 2021 Kia Optima that was making a left turn.
Following the collision, the BMW continued northbound, losing control as it traveled through the intersection. The vehicle then left the roadway, striking a utility pole, landscaping, and a cinder block wall before hitting two pedestrians on the sidewalk.
Victims and injuries
The 17-year-old female was pronounced deceased at the scene. The 19-year-old female was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries.
The driver of the Kia Optima was not injured, and a juvenile passenger inside the BMW was also unharmed.
Arrest
The driver of the BMW, identified as a 32-year-old male, showed signs of possible impairment. As part of the investigation, a blood draw was conducted.
The driver was later taken into custody and booked on multiple charges, including reckless driving resulting in death, reckless driving resulting in substantial bodily harm, child endangerment, and driving without a valid license.
The identification of the deceased, along with the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
