Tuesday, a judge reviewed the evidence against Kendall and says district court will evaluate competency.

30-year-old Larissa Garcia died days after she was found unconscious in a hotel room registered to the suspect. The coroner listed her cause of death as a brain injury from strangulation.

Members of the Las Vegas Red Umbrella Collective say Garcia was more than just a sex worker.

“Not only was she a worker, she was a mom with two lovely children and a student as well,” the collective said. “She was pursuing a better life for her family and her friends. It’s important that we’re here together representing her and the love we have for our community.”

The Red Umbrella Collective is a mutual aid network created for and by sex workers. They say members of their industry are frequently victims of violent crime.
