LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Some students on the Las Vegas Valley’s west side started the school year brand new.
Red Rock Elementary School is new and improved. The old school first opened in 1955 and served its students well for decades.
However, many of the aging classrooms had asbestos in their ceilings. Red Rock Principal, Chantae Radye tells FOX5 that wasn’t the least of their worries.
“Our HVAC would cut out, sometimes our electricity would go out,” Radye said. “Often our teachers had to work on the fly to continue education for the children.”
The old school was vacated May 2023. Nearly a year and a half later, a $50 million replacement stands in its place.
It has a new library and everything from new TVs to new tech.
The design also features spaces for outdoor lessons as well as smaller areas for small group activities.
