LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The Las Vegas teen accused of running a “lone-wolf” ISIS operation had previously threatened to commit a school shooting, according to new court documents.
Joshua Robles faces multiple felony terrorism charges from incidents in 2022 and 2023. Prosecutors alleged Robles intended to support ISIS, saying Robles gathered explosive material “to target one or more areas within Clark County, NV.”
New documents shed light on the specific threats made regarding potential ISIS terror plots, along with the 2020 threat made toward his middle school.
On March 10, 2020, Robles was reported for allegedly making threats toward Cannon Middle School. Two students told Clark County School District Police that Robles talked about shooting up the school and “[a]ccording to the two students, Robles says similar things on a daily basis.”
Documents show Robles was suspended and referred to The Harbor, a facility for troubled teens in the school district.
In November 2023, prosecutors allege that Robles “took steps towards actual violence” including dressing as an ISIS soldier and naming specific threats including Gov. Joe Lombardo and Pres. Joe Biden. Aside from “lone wolf” postings, prosecutors allege Robles “created an image showing the Las Vegas skyline with the date of Jan. 1, 2024, and identified two high profile targets.”
Robles also allegedly created an ISIS fighter “profile” detailing potential attacks he could commit, including one note titled “2032 Invasion of Las Vegas.”
Prosecutors allege that Robles’ extreme views have continued while he has been detained. On Aug. 27, a Clark County Detention Center Corrections Officer found a note in Robles’ cell written in Arabic and English, pledging further allegiance to ISIS, police said.

“Based on our knowledge…it is our professional opinion to conclude with high confidence that Robles was writing down nasheeds to remember them for reciting to himself and possibly to share with others while in custody.”
A “nasheed” is a type of hymn or chant.
Upcoming hearings for Robles are set for Sept. 16 and 23, and a trial date was set for Oct. 21.
