LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) — The UNLV Soccer Foundation will host a free tailgate on Thursday when UNLV soccer celebrates its 50th anniversary at Peter Johann Memorial Field. As part of a doubleheader, the Foundation will provide free food and drinks at 4:30 p.m. before UNLV women’s soccer’s 5:30 p.m. kickoff vs. Colorado College and the Rebel men’s team’s 8 p.m. start vs. San Diego State.
After picking up three points on the road last week, the Rebel women’s squad (3-6-1, 1-1) seeks another win in its Mountain West home opener against a Tiger (5-5-1, 1-1) team coming off its own three-point week. On the men’s side, UNLV (3-5) looks for its third home win of the season as it opens WAC play against new league affiliate SDSU (3-4-2).
As part of the 50th anniversary, all UNLV soccer alumni in attendance will be recognized, including the men’s soccer team that played UNLV’s inaugural season in 1974.
