LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Motorcyclist was killed in a crash with an SUV in the southwest valley Saturday afternoon.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the crash occurred on South El Capitan Way, south of West Saddle Avenue around 3:07 p.m. An investigation revealed that a black Jeep Grand Cherokee was exiting a private drive, while a white Yiben 150cc motorcycle was traveling south on El Capitan.
Police say the crash occurred when the Jeep traveled forward into the motorcycle’s path and the two collided.
The motorcyclist was thrown from the bike, and would later die at the scene.
The Jeep driver remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment, according to police.
“The motorcyclist’s death marks the 128th traffic-related fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s jurisdiction for the year 2024,” LVMPD noted in a release.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
