LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Clark County firefighters said a mattress caught fire between two east Las Vegas homes Tuesday night.

The Clark County Fire Department responded to the 1600 block of White Skies Court near Nellis and Lake Mead boulevards.

The call came at 8:32 p.m. and the first engine arrived four minutes later. Arriving crews saw smoke from the backyard and prepared for an offensive attack.

Crews said the fire was found to be a mattress between two houses that charred the exteror of both, broke out a window in the nearest home and ignited a couch downstairs.

CCFD says the fire was suppressed and they prevented further spread. Wind was not a factor during their efforts.

A total of 30 personnel responded including NV Energy, Southwest Gas, board-up companies and American Red Cross for the residents and a dog.
