LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The UNLV Lady Rebels hit the road for the next Mountain West contest visiting San Diego State on Saturday, Jan. 25. This contest marks the first meeting for the two squads this season. UNLV currently holds a 23-0 MW road game win streak and have won 22 straight MW games.

ABOUT SAN DIEGO STATE: UNLV holds the all-time series against San Diego State, 41-29 and have won the last 10 straight meetings. Under head coach Lindy La Rocque, the Lady Rebels are 9-0. The Aztecs head into Saturday’s game with a 14-7 overall record and a 3-5 MW record. San Diego State is coming off a 68-57 loss to San Jose State at home. SDSU has three players scoring in double-digits and are led by Adryana Quezada’s 11.3 points per game. Cali Clark is the leading rebounder for the Aztecs bringing down 8.2 boards per game. Quezada is the second leading rebounder on the team with 5.9 per game.

SQUAD LEADERS: UNLV currently has four players scoring in double-figures and are led by Amarachi Kimpson with 14.1 points per game. Kiara Jackson is the second leading scorer who is averaging 12.8 points per game and leads the Lady Rebels in assists with 4.9 per game and field goals made with 5.2 per game. Alyssa Brown leads the squad in rebounds, bringing down 7.7 per game. Meadow Roland is second for the Lady Rebels in rebounds with 6.2 per game.

LAST TIME ON THE COURT: The UNLV Lady Rebels have kept the winning momentum going as the downed Fresno State 73-48 on Wednesday night at Save Mart Center. The Scarlet & Gray are now 22-0 in Mountain West road games. UNLV extends its winning streak to nine games and have now won 10 straight games against the Bulldogs. Meadow Roland dropped a career-high 16 points in her return to her hometown to lead the Lady Rebels. Roland shot 6-for-7 from the field, 2-for-2 from the three and made two free throws. She also led UNLV in rebounds with seven. Aaliyah Alexander and McKinna Brackens each collected 11 points apiece. Kiara Jackson dished five assists which led the squad.

THREE-PEAT LAST SEASON: The Lady Rebels have continued to bring the heat last season, which culminated with a third consecutive Mountain West Regular Season and Tournament Titles. UNLV became the first program in MW history to claim both titles in three straight seasons. The Scarlet & Gray earned its third automatic bid to the NCAA tournament, a first in both program and league history. The Lady Rebels finished the season only one of two squads to have two (South Carolina) straight seasons with 30 wins. UNLV earned its highest ranking in both the AP and Coaches Poll coming in at No. 20 and No. 19. The Lady Rebels appeared in the Top-25 eight times this season and came into the season receiving votes for the first time in 19 years. UNLV claimed the MW’s Player of the Year in Desi-Rae Young (All-MW Team and All-Defensive Team), and Sixth and Freshman of the Year with Amarachi Kimspon (All-MW Team honorable mention and All-Freshman MW Team). Kiara Jackson earned All-MW team accolades and Alyssa Brown was named MW Tournament MVP.

WHAT UP SQUAD: The Lady Rebels return 10 of the 14 players from its 2024 championship squad, including two starters and Mountain West Sixth Player and Freshman of the Year Amarachi Kimpson. UNLV added two freshmen guards Teagan Colvin and Elli Guiney, and junior transfer Aaliyah Alexander from Eastern Washington.

UP NEXT: The Lady Rebels will be back on the court in one week to host in-state rival UNR on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 2 p.m.
