LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The victim of a recent crash has been identified as a longtime teacher with the Clark County School District.

The crash happened just before noon Friday, May 22, near Boulder Highway and Russell.

Police said a 2025 Hyundai Elantra was traveling northbound on Boulder Highway, south of Desert Horizons Drive, in the left of three lanes at a high rate of speed when it hit a 2024 Chrysler Pacifica that was pulling into the intersection from Desert Horizons Drive after stopping at a posted stop sign.

Medical personnel pronounced the Chrysler’s driver dead at the scene. The Chrysler’s passenger and the Hyundai’s driver were taken to Sunrise Hospital in serious condition.

On Wednesday, the Clark County Coroner’s Office identified the driver as 55-year-old Jeffrey Buchbaum. His cause of death was listed as blunt force injuries.
